We’re thrilled to announce that Dr Jonathan Milner, Founder of Abcam, has been selected as the worthy winner of this award.

Those nominating Dr Milner said:

“In creating Abcam, Jonathan aimed to offer life scientists the service he craved as a researcher. Today the business stands as the a leader in the field, influencing the work of hundreds of thousands of life scientists globally. ”

“Jonathan’s work and investment continues to inspire other life scientists to create companies today. He has invested in over 20 UK companies in life sciences, and started research foundations at the University of Bath and the University of Cambridge. He is a leader and influencer who deserves this recognition.”

“Science has benefited from Jonathan's vision and commitment to increasing the quality of reagents used and thus the quality of research delivered.”

Dr Andrew Chalmers, Founder of CiteAb, said: “In judging this award, we looked for a contribution that went beyond a single company. Dr Jonathan Milner certainly created a ground-breaking business with Abcam, but has since worked tirelessly investing his own time and funds in taking life science research forward. For Dr Milner, research in this field is clearly something he cares about passionately and his ongoing work makes him the clear winner of this accolade.”
