A trusted citation web tool to replace manual data collection
To eliminate time-consuming, in-house citation collection St John's Laboratory installed the CiteAb Citation Widget. Visually displaying citation data and published images embeds credibility within their webpages.

The challenge
Citations build researcher trust - but collecting them is resource-intensive
For life science suppliers, citation data is one of the most valuable trust signals a product page can carry. Researchers actively look for published evidence, including both product mentions and experimental images, before purchasing a reagent. Without it, they may leave to find validation data elsewhere, turn to another company, or simply lose confidence in the product.
Yet, collecting this data is a labour-intensive task. Monitoring pubmed, checking for accuracy, and formatting data into webpages all pulls teams away from other projects.
The solution
Scientifically meaningful citations and images, updated on pages automatically
With a history of working together (St John's Laboratory organised the inaugural Antibody Validation Meeting, with support from CiteAb) and a shared commitment to putting science first, when St John's Laboratory started looking for a citation provider, our collaboration was a natural fit.
With the Citation Widget, data is now displayed prominently on product pages, updates continuously, and is indexed by search engines, without any ongoing effort from their team.
Crucially, automation hasn't meant a compromise on quality. CiteAb goes beyond simply linking to publications: for individual products, the experimental context is pulled out of citations, and images are cropped to the panel of interest. This means researchers get exactly what they need to evaluate a product, without leaving the page.
Peer-reviewed experimental images were a particular priority for St John's Laboratory. Displayed in an interactive carousel, scientists can visually validate product claims quickly - essential data that builds confidence at the point of decision.

A long-term partnership to serve researchers
The partnership between CiteAb and St John's Laboratory, which began over a decade ago with a shared ambition to raise standards in antibody validation, continues to grow. Today it's delivering real value to the researchers St John's Laboratory exists to serve.
