In an often overlooked sector, this CiteAb Award recognises people who have made a positive difference in the research reagent industry.
Congratulations to Carl Laflamme, winner of the Award for Significant Individual Impact.
Dr Laflamme is the Team leader of the Antibody Characterization Group, carrying out scientific work for YCharOS. YCharOS are a public-private consortium committed to validating commercial antibodies through knock-out testing, enhancing the standards of antibody characterization, and strengthening the reliability of biomedical research that depends on these tools. YCharOS were also named the winners of our Educational Resource of the Year Award this year.
Carl works with over 11 antibody vendors, with results from collaborations shared with researchers around the globe. YCharOS are now expanding into at least 3 global sites and adding IHC to their characterization set.
Andrew Chalmers, CEO of CiteAb, commented:
"YCharOS's work is making a profound impact on life scientists. Bringing many different suppliers together to work collaboratively and achieving large-scale knockout validation of antibodies is a remarkable feat—one that has the potential to drive meaningful change across the industry. Everyone who has met Carl will know his enthusiasm for science and understand why the judges awarded him our Significant Individual Impact Award!"
We received many fantastic and varied nominations this year, so thank you to all nominators.
The Judges:
- Claire Weston: CEO and founder of Reveal Biosciences
- Jim Trimmer: Distinguished professor at University of California Davis
