After we started collecting images in 2019 to display on our search engine and provide to suppliers, we saw first-hand how instrumental they are in showcasing fascinating research and innovative products. As a result, we introduced the Image of the Year award!
Congratulations to our winning image this year, produced by Adrian Villalba et al. in their publication: A 3D atlas of the human developing pancreas to explore progenitor proliferation and differentiation.
This striking 3D lateral view of a PCW7 human embryo precisely maps the pancreas while showcasing SOX9 expression across essential structures.
Captured using Light Sheet Fluorescence Microscopy (LSFM) on the UltraMicroscope Blaze (Miltenyi), the image offers unprecedented 3D insights into human pancreatic development between 5 and 11 post-conceptional weeks (PCW).
By revealing the spatial organization, proliferation dynamics, and distribution of insulin-producing cells during early pancreas formation, this study provides a groundbreaking visualization of organogenesis.
