Contextualised reagent data is incredibly powerful for researchers, and is an important part of Springer Nature’s Life Science Protocols and Methods content and their experiments platform. Springer Nature spotted an opportunity to enhance their platform with reagent data, and began searching for a partner who could help them achieve this. They approached CiteAb, and we began working on a novel partnership leveraging both Springer Nature’s high quality publications and our expertise in AI-driven text-mining and the curation of structured reagent data.

We were guided by a shared commitment to co-create new value for the life science ecosystem, as it’s not enough to “just carry on doing the same things and doing it more efficiently’. Approached with openness and flexibility it was important that we kept working together to find ways to create foundations for future opportunities and growth from our partnership.

The partnership we created centres around CiteAb text-mining Springer Nature content to generate reagent citation data; the data is integrated into CiteAb’s reagent search engine for researchers and data products for suppliers and fed back to Springer Nature, opening doors for a multitude of product and business development opportunities. Our partnership has enabled Springer Nature to expand their partner network and reach new user-groups, such as those in the R&D ecosystem. Most importantly, it has helped us both to serve life science communities better by unlocking powerful data integral to these publications.
